We offer vital opportunities for local performing artists, by encouraging a supportive performing arts environment in Swindon & producing our own shows.
We challenge our performers and our audience on how they engage with performing art and look to find new audiences by venturing outside of traditional theatres.
Above all we aim to entertain
Matt Fox started writing for the theatre as a teenager when he joined a writer’s group at Plymouth Theatre Royal. Following a degree in English from Royal Holloway and an MA in Professional Writing, he started to write, produce, and (occasionally) direct theatrical productions. He is currently a trustee for music education charity the JTPTrust and writer and producer for Madam Renards. Recent works include the operas Swindon: the Opera (with Betty Roe MBE) & Nights (with Jessie Thompson) , the plays The Life We Lived, To Sleep, One Act Play, Family Play and The Lady Killers Monologue Series, the musicals Madrababes, The Indisposition of David Phillips, The Bridal Ballad and a new adaptation of The Beggar’s Opera (all with Jessie Thompson). All of these pieces have been performed in Swindon and toured to theatres around the UK. Matt’s work is published by Roister Doister Publishing Ltd and Off The Wall Plays in the UK, and JD Drama Publishing in the USA.
Matt has most recently written a new play called ‘The Life We Lived’ which was premiered in January 2016 by Trick of Light Theatre Company.

Jessie Thompson completed her BMus (hons.) in Music at the University of London in 2004. She is currently a freelance musical director, vocal coach and musical arranger in the Wiltshire area.
Jessie has previously taught with Hackney Musical Development Trust in London, and currently provides private singing lessons to students in Swindon. In addition she is one of the principal tutors for Swindon based vocal education charity the JTPTrust.
In 2011 Jessie created a new adaptation of John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera with Matt Fox. Since then Jessie has written the music for a number of new musicals and operas including Nights, Madrababes, The Indisposition of David Phillips & The Bridal Ballad, as well as many choral works including the annually performed Christmas piece The Holly, The Ivy & the Mistletoe.

Becci Smith is a classical soprano who trained with Janice Thompson
She has been performing in Madam Renards’ productions for several years now and has now begun to take on ‘behind the scenes’ work within in the company, which most recently included assisting with the research for Madam Renards’ 2015 production ‘The Bridal Ballad’.
